A group of armed camel herders threatened residents in
Nadi village east of Kutum in North Darfur if they did not pay a ransom
of 30 million Sudanese pounds for killing three of their camels.
A resident from Nadi told Radio Dabanga that a group of
herders told the chief of the village that if he did not pay 30 million
SDG they would kill residents and burn down the village.
The herders said the three dead camels were found on farming land that belonged to the villagers.
The resident appealed to local authorities and the Darfur
Regional Authority to intervene and protect residents from threats and
attacks by armed groups that continue to enjoy impunity.
